Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to welcome
basic and physician scientists
to the 4th International Symposium on Kallikreins
and Kallikrein-Related Peptidases
(ISK2011),
which will be held in Rhodes Island,
Greece, from the 2nd to the 4th of
September, 2011.
As you may know, Rhodes_Island_is_a_wonderful_and_renowned_island
(follow_the_link) with a
rich history and exceptional natural
beauty. The ISK2011 will take
place at the "Rodos Palace -
Luxury Convention Resort",
located in the city of Rhodes.
We have done our best to build up a very
informative scientific program,
addressing the latest developments in
the field of kallikreins
and kallikrein-related peptidases
(KLKs). This three-day event, with CME
credits, will feature recent findings
from Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and
association of KLKs with diseases.
Although primarily known for their
clinical applicability as cancer
biomarkers (e.g PSA/KLK3), recent
evidences implicate KLKs in many
pathways of cardiovascular, renal, skin
and neuron diseases. We believe that
this symposium will contribute to
further advancing this interesting area
of investigation and to the discovery of
novel applications of KLKs in
diagnostics, therapeutics and
personalized Medicine.
You are all invited to submit your
abstracts, which could be presented as
posters or oral presentations, in
addition to the plenary lectures. Oral
or poster presenters with interesting
new results will be invited to publish
their data, after peer review, as
full research papers or short
communications in the
highlight issues of two broadly
recognized scientific journals
(Biological Chemistry or Thrombosis
& Haemostasis).
Please take your time before or after
the symposium to visit the city of
Rhodes and its surroundings, some of the
island’s wonderful beaches, the valley
of the butterflies, the ancient city of
Lindos, as well as the island of Kos
where the father of Medicine,
Hippocrates, was born, trained and wrote
more than 50 medical books in the fourth
century BC. Many low-cost vacation
packets that include the Greek Island of
Rhodes are being offered
internationally. The personnel of the
congress secretariat, ERA Ltd, are
willing to help in this issue.
We look forward to seeing you, your
colleagues and your families in Rhodes
for a wonderful scientific meeting and
an overall enjoyable experience.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Andreas Scorilas
Assoc. Professor
